HeiQ and DuPont collaborate to develop environmentally friendly waterproof leather treatment technology

Swiss textile technology company HeiQ partnered with DuPont's Consumer Solutions Division (Dupont Consummer Solution) to introduce an environmentally friendly waterproofing product for leather.

HeiQ revealed that consumer research shows that 49% of consumers believe that their waterproof products are not important for PFC. To meet the needs of this consumer and brand, the company responded with an eco-drying line of PFC-free products.

The collaboration with DuPont expands the product line and introduces the first PFC-free leather waterproofing agent called HeiQ DuPont ECO-LED. Wolverine World Wide Leathers, Inc. will be the first supplier of processed leather to its major brand partners.

Suzanne Johnson, vice president of sales and marketing at Wolverine, said: "We have seen many apparel products that use PFC-free. Consumers are now looking for other technologies for leather waterproofing agents. Our high-performance pig nubuck (nubuck) Combined with the HeiQ DuPont ECO-LED fluorine-free water repellent for leather, we offer a way to meet the needs of consumers. We are eager to provide our brand partners with eco-friendly waterproof leather."
