Zegna reluctantly enters online sales

Ermenegildo Zegna (Zernia) has finally entered the online sales market. The luxury menswear brand of the Italian Z Zegna Group chose TheCorner.com for this purpose. The site exclusively sells high-end "avant-garde brands" through personalized mini-shops. The Corner, a website designed by Yoox Group two years ago, has launched online stores such as Armani, Valentino, Emilio Pucci, Moschino, and Roberto Cavalli.

In autumn/winter season 2010/2011, this “Online Department Store” will launch Jil Sander, Dsquared2, Kris Van Assche, Marc Jacobs and Gareth Pug. A few months after joining TheCorner.com website, a special sales site for the Zegna and Zegna Sport series will be launched. The latter is still under planning and will be launched by the Yoox Group. At the same time, in order to celebrate the brand touch, Zegna will launch two new designs on The Corner: a back double-stitched female coat and a high-top sneaker.

Alessandro Sartori, the brand's art director, said, “This mini store is a very important strategic step for us. For this reason, the best partner is not TheCorner.com because we have the same value, mission and vision”. The advancement of e-commerce has also helped the group to deal with the sharp decline in earnings that occurred in 2009. The company's annual report recorded only 17.3 million euros of profits, a year-on-year decrease of 73%.
