style and fabric inspiration: lisette B6182 boxy top

Allow me to introduce you to the other half of B6182! We discussed the A-line skirt a few weeks ago. This top is designed for drapey woven fabrics and offers a slightly less structured silhouette compared to the B6183 princess seam top, featuring a more relaxed fit. The shaping is achieved through the center-front seam and darts, which not only allow for adjustments to fit but also serve as a stylish design element. I’m genuinely excited to sew and wear this top. I just cut it out using some beautiful double gauze from Cotton and Steel, and I believe it will be incredibly comfortable to wear this summer. However, the possibilities are endless when it comes to how you can interpret this pattern based on your fabric and styling choices, ranging from formal to super casual. Here are some ideas to inspire you: A relaxed, chic white option perfect for spring and summer. Right now, I'm really drawn to a pretty pale pink shade—this peachy pink hue is my current favorite. Draping denim or chambray could create a casual, sporty vibe by adding a drawstring. Sheer tonal stripes can add a touch of elegance, making it appropriate for the workplace. Silky navy can achieve that athleisure feel when paired with sweatpants, while a pencil skirt gives it a more classic look. Yarn-dye checks are always a fun choice for a cute top. Hand-dying fabric can be a rewarding experience; you can find all the necessary supplies and instructions at Dharma Trading. Oxford shirting with contrasting sleeve cuffs is another fantastic option—it's a versatile and timeless fabric that looks great on everyone. For fall or winter, wool bouclé could give the top a completely different, cozy vibe. Another pale pink top layered under a crisp white shirt creates a trendy look. Lengthening the top slightly and incorporating printed and solid silk for a color-blocked effect is another interesting approach. Muted awning stripes in pastel tones would be stunning for spring and surprisingly wearable. A slouchy, pale mint green version adds a laid-back charm. Bias-cut checks are visually striking and something I personally adore. Semi-sheer navy or black silk exudes elegance—experimenting with textures could be exciting. Picture a sheer back paired with a satin front. Fleece or sweater knit transforms the pattern into something more casual and oversized, especially if you extend the length. All-lace versions are undeniably beautiful. Adding a lace hem instead of going fully lace is also a creative option. Sheer sleeves with an opaque body present a unique twist. Floral prints never fail to impress. Crisp shirting gives off a menswear-inspired or tailored vibe. Marsala, the Pantone Color of the Year, is another trendy choice. And let’s not forget the dress version! Isn’t this one adorable? A crisp cotton dress would make for a breezy summer option. The dressed-up version with layers of organza adds a touch of sophistication. Even a gray dress with its subtle elegance can be quite striking. I hope these ideas spark your creativity and inspire you to give this pattern a try. Maybe you'll join one of our sew-alongs? It’s been a joy gathering these concepts for each of the new Lisette patterns, and I’m eager to see what you create. Remember, our tagline for Lisette is “Sew Your Style!” (Adsense code remains unchanged) Related posts section stays the same.
