Spring Summer 2011 Shoes Fashion Preview

Leading Word: The long winter is finally coming to an end. As spring returns, the world is getting ready for the preview of the Spring and Summer 2011 fashion trends. Just like slipping into these shoes and taking a walk, you can feel the energy that starts from your feet and spreads through your entire being.

Engraved Platform Shoes

Platform shoes, once a symbol of the 1990s, were known for their thick soles and bold designs. Though they enjoyed a brief moment in the spotlight, they eventually fell out of favor due to their somewhat unrefined look. However, in the Spring and Summer 2011 season, they made a strong comeback. This time, the thick-soled platform shoes took center stage, with models walking confidently on them. While they may seem safe and stylish at first glance, they actually demand a certain level of confidence and leg length to pull off. These bold shoes are all about making a statement.

This season, Prada brought its most eye-catching platform shoes. Whether it was lace-up oxfords or buckle sandals, every pair came with a thick, colorful foam sole—ranging from hot orange to bright turquoise and dazzling royal blue. The soles were not only wide but also featured innovative color combinations and textures. A woven jute band connected the bold foam soles to the upper parts, giving each shoe a unique visual contrast. From the side, these thick-soled shoes might look unconventional, but that’s exactly the point. Miuccia Prada aimed to express a theme of Baroque-inspired extravagance, where everything is exaggerated, striking, and intentionally out of place.

Chanel, on the other hand, focused on elegant and classic platform shoes this season. Their designs featured a moderate heel height and a clever forefoot split, making them easy to transition from the runway to everyday wear. The intricate weaving on the upper not only provided support and comfort but also added a touch of traditional Eastern aesthetics. These shoes are both practical and stylish, proving that even the boldest trends can be wearable and functional.
