Austrian Spring and Summer 2011 national costume expo opening

The Spring and Summer National Costume Fair 2011, entitled “Traditional Clothing and Country Style”, was held from the 27th to the 29th at the exhibition center in Salzburg, the northern city of Austria. 177 exhibitors from countries in the Alps region participated in the fair, including 72 Austrian exhibitors and 105 other exhibitors.

Through the exhibition and the national costume show held during the Expo, exhibitors exhibited the results of the company’s design, production, improvement and innovation of traditional ethnic costumes in the Alps.

After long-term production and living practices, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and other countries in the Alps have formed their own national costumes with distinctive regional characteristics: dark woolen coats, white shirts, leather shorts and thick stockings. , highlighting the men's fortitude and strength, becoming the standard clothing of local men. The wide-sleeved, low-necked shirts, brightly colored suspenders, and bright aprons are typical women's attire. They also show their slenderness and make them look even more lean and feminine. Residents of various countries in the Alps have always been proud of their traditional ethnic costumes.

Mr. Kaul, the German exhibitor who came to participate in this expo, told the author that respect for his traditional culture is an important reason why traditional folk costumes are still very popular in the Alps. Not only middle-aged and old people but also young people love it. Especially in the mountainous areas, national costumes are also essential dresses for local residents.
