introducing the saint-germain wrap dress sewing pattern
I’m thrilled to finally introduce you all to the latest addition to the Liesl + Co. collection: the Saint-Germain Wrap Dress. This dress is an absolute must-have for anyone who loves a classic yet modern look. It’s not your typical knit wrap dress from the 1970s, which has become somewhat of a staple in many wardrobes even today. Instead, this dress is crafted specifically for woven fabrics, making it a breath of fresh air in the world of sewing patterns.
The Saint-Germain Wrap Dress is incredibly easy to sew and even easier to wear. One of its standout features is how forgiving it is in terms of fit. Our model, who wears three different sizes, found it surprisingly simple to adjust the pattern to her unique measurements. I’ll be sharing step-by-step tips on how to achieve the perfect fit during our upcoming sew-along. Trust me, once you get started, you’ll wonder why you didn’t try this sooner!

As you can see from the photos, this dress offers just the right amount of coverage, so there’s no need to worry about feeling exposed. The pattern includes two different skirt lengths and two sleeve options, giving you the flexibility to customize your dress according to your style preferences.
View A showcases a longer midi-length skirt paired with flutter sleeves, creating a romantic and elegant silhouette. This would be perfect for formal events, weddings, or even casual weekend outings. On the other hand, View B presents a shorter length with ¾ sleeves that feature a delightful elastic shirring detail. I imagine this version would be ideal for a professional setting or a day out with friends. Both views fasten securely with buttons, though they blend seamlessly with the fabric color in some of the photos. If you're curious about the button placement, check out the pink floral dress—I promise they’re much easier to spot there!

One thing I particularly love about this dress is its clean-finished waistband. It not only enhances the overall aesthetic but also helps create a smooth, flattering silhouette by accentuating your natural waistline. The soft pleats in both the bodice and skirt add a touch of elegance while maintaining comfort—a rare combination in modern fashion. Construction-wise, this dress is straightforward yet polished, ensuring you end up with a beautifully finished garment without hours of meticulous work.

When it comes to fabric choices, I highly recommend drapey wovens such as silk or rayon for an effortless, flowy effect. Linen is another excellent option if you prefer something lightweight and breathable. For those who enjoy structured fabrics, cotton sateen and poplin work wonderfully too. In these photos, I used rayon for the red dress and cotton poplin for the pink floral version—both turned out stunningly.
