Italian jewelry aims at the Chinese market

In times of economic downturn, people around the world are tightening their budgets. As the world's largest jewelry exporter, Italy has also faced significant challenges in recent years. From 2008 to 2009, its jewelry exports saw a continuous decline, and the number of jewelry manufacturers has been shrinking. In response, Italian entrepreneurs have turned their focus toward the Chinese market in recent years. Angelinas, Director of the Ministry of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Commerce and Craft Industry in the Lazio region—home to many of Italy’s top jewelry producers—emphasized that “China is a key market with huge potential for gold and silver jewelry.” To showcase the allure of Italian craftsmanship, luxury brand ILIONNO launched an exclusive tour across major Chinese cities, featuring high-end pieces that highlight the brand’s artistry. POMELLATO, another renowned Italian jewelry brand, also entered the Chinese market in 2010, marking a strategic and timely move. POMELLATO, known for its bold and unconventional designs, has become one of Europe’s top five jewelry brands. With a rich history dating back to 1967 in Milan, the brand has continuously redefined luxury through innovative design and celebrity endorsements. Its unique approach allows jewelry to be worn both on special occasions and in daily life, blending elegance with modern style. The brand made its debut in mainland China in autumn 2010, opening its first boutique at Yintai Pleasant Life in Beijing. ILIONNO, founded in 1958 in Milan, continues to uphold traditional European craftsmanship while embracing contemporary design. Their latest exhibition, “National Treasures of Aristocratic Iliono Jewelry,” took place in Shanghai Jiuguang Department Store from August 31 to September 6. This event featured over 100 million yuan worth of exquisite pieces, including diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds, all crafted using classic Italian techniques. Among the highlights was a stunning 6.48-carat diamond ring with a D-color grade, valued at over 10 million yuan. As part of its national tour, ILIONNO aims to bring the beauty of Italian luxury to more cities, extending the legacy of its artistic heritage. Meanwhile, in Beijing’s Sanlitun area, the Sanlitun Village shopping complex offers a blend of traditional and modern styles. From September 17 to October 7, visitors can explore 253 stores, discovering everything from luxury watches like Rolex and Seiko to fashion accessories from Longchamp and limited edition items from Adidas. Whether you're browsing the elegant North District or the vibrant South District, Sanlitun Village promises an unforgettable shopping experience filled with creativity and discovery.
