Even the more affordable red rosewood, which is commonly used in mid-range furniture, has seen a sharp increase. Previously costing between 30,000 and 40,000 yuan per ton, it has now risen to 60,000 yuan per ton—an increase of 50%.
A long-time businessman in the mahogany furniture industry told the reporter that the price of raw materials has been highly volatile recently, and the final product prices change almost every month. He also noted that competition in the market is fierce, making it difficult to predict future price trends.
